Senior outfielder Jon Collins (SR/Briarcliffe, PA) and junior pitcher James Muscarella (JR/West Chester, PA) were named to the 2017 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Baseball All-Academic team.  The squad was named recently by the USCAA.

A three-year starter in centerfield, Collins was dogged by injuries the past two years but still managed to be a catalyst for this year's Williamson squad, which finished with its first winning season in five years.

"Jon has been a pleasure to coach and is somebody we could always rely on to be a leader, both on and off the field," stated Williamson head baseball coach Doug Thompson.  "We will really miss him."

Muscarella had an outstanding year for Williamson, both on the mound and at the plate.  He was Williamson's leading pitcher with a 2-2 overall record, one save and an ERA of 3.76.  At the plate, he batted .412 and was one of the team's leaders in hits and extra base hits and walks.  He led Williamson in stolen bases as well.

"Of all the players I have coached, on any level, if it were coming down to the final game of a series, James is the guy I would want on the mound for me.  He is that good but also has the intangibles that any coach hopes his best players have.  The great thing about James is that we have him for one more year," beamed Thompson.

Despite having 19 games postponed or canceled due to wet or cold weather this past Spring, Williamson still managed to finish with a winning record.  They return 16 of 19 roster players for next season and are adding several talented freshmen to next year's squad.
