Football Battles Against Rain, Warriors
MEDIA, Pa. – Shawn Bedwell recorded a career-high in passing yards, but the Williamson College of the Trades football team was upended by the New Jersey Warriors, 23-10 on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Bedwell threw for 109 yards and a touchdown.
- Asher Wiser had five catches for 18 yards and a score. Nathan Barnshaw hauled in three passes.
- TayShaun Bennett had 14 carries for 41 yards.
- Chase Witmeyer and Robert Knapp each had eight tackles to lead the Mechanics. Witmeyer also had a sack and 3.5 tackles for loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After New Jersey scored the first points of the game, Williamson drove the ball 65 yards, highlighted by a 54-yard pass from Bedwell to Bartholomew that set up a 28-yard field goal by Steinruck, closing the gap to 7-3.
- The Warriors scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second quarter, going up 16-3.
- Taking the ensuing kickoff, Barnshaw set WT up well with a 41-yard return. The offense did the rest, moving 44 yards in seven plays, capped by a 17-yard TD pass from Bedwell to Wiser, making it 16-10 heading into halftime.
- The third quarter went by scoreless as the teams fought through a driving rain. NJ scored midway through the fourth to create the final.
