Wrestling Topples West Chester for Second Consecutive Win
MEDIA, Pa. - The Williamson College of the Trades wrestling team earned three falls, two of them in the first period, and claimed one decision as the Mechanics downed West Chester 45-12 on Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- At 174 lbs, Alex Gamble-Williams used a strategic approach in a tough battle Rocco Trivelli to come to come away with 15-11 decision which included riding time.
- Liam Kernan and Noach Brechbill went back and forth, trading offensive positions throughout the the match, eventually seeing Kernan outlast his opponent and secure a fall at 1:54 in the second period in the 149 lb matchup.
- At 184 lbs, Nurrideen Ahmad-Statts had an impressive display on his feet, taking his opponent down in the first 30 seconds and gaining the fall only 58 seconds into the match.
- Ali Cheeks secured a first period pin at 165 lbs with an acrobatic roll through at 1:15
- Williamson won by forfeit at 133, 197, 235 and Heavyweight.
- Arguably the match of the night came in an exhibition where Neven Fix and Jed Bonanni at 141 lbs. Both grapplers had multiple takedowns as momentum shifted throughout the contest. With seven seconds remaining in the match, Fix was able to get the final takedown and a fall to come away victorious.
