Wrestling Sweeps Owls Duals to Remain Undefeated

PHILADELPHIA - The Williamson College of the Trades wrestling team continued its perfect start to the season, winning three matches at the inaugural Owls Duals on Saturday, taking down UMBC, PSU and Temple.

 

NOTABLE
  • Williamson defeated UMBC 46-11 in the first match of the afternoon.
  • Alex Gamble Wiliams and Nurrideen Staats both tech fell their opponents, 18-0. 
  • In the second match of the day, the Mechanics topped PSU 33-24.
  • Each team traded pins as Conan DeBruyen had his first collegiate pin for WT at 2:43 of the first period.
  • Statts recorded the second pin for Williamson with another first period time at 2:12.
  • With only one contested match left at 197 lbs, Roger Walters put the match out of reach for the Lions with an impressive second period pin. 
  • The final contest saw Williamson outlast Temple 30-24. 
  • In the final match of the day, the Mechanics relied on two-time national qualifier, Harry Ascencio, who pinned at 285 to defeat the Owls on their home turf.
