Wrestling Takes Two in Tri-Meet Action

For those wrestling fans who like blowouts, the Williamson wrestling team obliged them on Saturday, as they handily defeated the University of Delaware, 42-12.  For those who like nail biters, Williamson obliged them as well, as they came back late to take down host Monmouth University 30-24.

In the opener, Williamson combined upperclassmen experience with youthful exuberance to take down the Blue Hens.  Returners Liam Kernan, Harry Asencio and Vincent Piermatteo all scored pins, while freshman Ali Cheek and Nurrideen Ahma- Staats also joined the pin party to give Williamson the convincing win.

The second match started out the same, with Kernan and Michael Kling picking up ins to give Williamson the early lead.  Monmouth then put together a big run before Jeremy Bony and Asencio scored pins late to give Williamson the come from behind 30-24 victory.

The win moves the Mechanics to 3-0 on the year. They next host West Chester University on Saturday, December 7 at 10:00 A.M.
