Nurrideen Ahmad-Statts - Williamson’s Newest Wrestling All-American!

Freshman 174 lb. wrestler Nurrideen Ahmad-Statts continued his magical journey at the 2025 National Collegiate Wrestling Association National championships, as he upset #7 seed Matthew Henson from Apprentice by a score of 6-0 to advance to tonight's semifinal round.

The top eight finishers in each weight class earn All-American status.  By advancing to tonight's semifinal round, Ahmad-Statts can finish no lower than 6th place, guaranteeing himself All-American status.

After knocking off the #18 seed, followed by the #2 seed, followed by the #7 seed, he now will face #3 seeded Matthew Riehle from Hillsdale College.

Sadly for Williamson, the tournament for their three other wrestlers who were alive coming into Friday's action ended.  Michael Kling won his opening consolation match before losing in the next round.  He finished an impressive 3-2 overall record.  Liam Kernan lost his opening match on Friday to bow out after going 2-2 overall, while Harry Asencio lost his match to bow out as well.

Overall, Williamson still stands at a very respectable 31st place out of 85 teams in the tournament, despite having just five wrestlers qualify.

Semifinal action resumes tonight.
