Basketball Places Five in Double Figures But Drop Heartbreaker to PSULV
MEDIA, Pa. – Five Williamson players scored in double figures, but the Mechanics dropped a heartbreaker to Penn State Lehigh Valley, 79-77 in overtime on Tuesday night.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Misael Santana poured in a career-high 28 points, shooting 10-for-19 from the floor and 5-of-10 from beyond the arc
- A'Jaad White posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
- Taj Combs scored 16. Liam Rardin had 12 points, eight boards and three assists.
- Ronald Johnson chipped in with 11.
- Williamson forced 19 PSULV turnovers in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions looked like they would run away with the game early, going up 23-12 midway through the first half.
- WT climbed back into the contest with an 11-2 run, closing the gap to 25-23 on a Rardin jumper with 7:03 left in the first.
- It was an even remainder of the opening frame as Penn State led 36-32 at the break.
- The teams battled hard early in the second half. Williamson took its first lead since the opening minutes on a trey by Combs seven and a half minutes into the stanza.
- After a spurt by the Lions, the Mechanics pushed the lead out to 67-59 on a triple from Santana.
- Trailing by three after a stop, the Lions knotted the game at 70-70 on a three with two seconds left.
- Overtime was a battle at the line as PSULV eked out the win.
