MEDIA, Pa. - The Wililamson College of the Trades baseball team had a strong offensive afternoon, but the Mechanics were upended in both games of a doubleheader by Penn State Mont Alto, dropping the opener 110-5 before taking a 17-6 setback in game two.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Zachary Ladislaw had three hits across the twinbill, driving in a pair and scoring three times.
- Jacob Naumann posted three hits, including a double and had an RBI in the second game.
- Phil Martini and Michael Krakovitz each had two hits and an RBI in the second game.
- Brandon Fredericksdorf had two hits with a double and two driven in.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME ONE
- Penn State Mont Alto took a 4-0 lead after two innings.
- Williamson got on the board in the fourth on a double by Daniel Gross, scoring Ramone Sanchez, who had walked to lead off the frame and stole a base.
- The Nittany Lions came back with five in the sixth. Undeterred, the Mechanics battled back again. Gross, Hagan Nagle and Michael Sheller each walked to load the bases for Ladislaw,. who doubled in two runs. RBI groundouts from Cole Locklear and Krakovitz brought home the final two runs of the inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME TWO
- Trailing 5-0, WT cracked the scoreboard on an RBI double from Krakovitz, plating Ladislaw who had singled to open the frame.
- Williamson battled back into the contest in the fourth. With one out,. Krakovitz singled and Shane McLaughlin was hit by a pitch. That brought up Fredericksdorf who smacked a two-bagger, scoring both runners, closing the gap to 5-3.
- Two batters later, Naumann doubled home Fredericksdorf, slicing the lead to a single run.
- Mont Alto was able to take control of the game back, scoring seven in the fifth and five in the sixth.
UP NEXT
The Mechanics are back in action on Saturday, April 11 for a doubleheader against Patrick Henry. First pitch from Media, Pa. is scheduled for noon.
